The MSU Bear needs pupils

Is it just me, or is the Missouri State University Bear Head logo missing something?
He just looks kind of creepy and strange. And for a while, I just couldn’t figure out what it needed.
Then, it hit me. He doesn’t have pupils for his eyes. Instead of being a normal bear with a slightly mean look on his face, he instead looks like a zombie bear, with his eyes apparently rolled up into his head.
I know the trend for mascots over the years has been to make them look meaner and meaner as to “intimidate” the
opponent, I guess. But really, maybe this has gone too far. Does a mascot really intimidate anyone, anyway?
With the help of Photoshop, to the right is a version of the bear with pupils. Not a big change (merely a 2 pt. dot), but it makes all the difference. Sure, he looks slightly more friendly, but is that a bad thing?
What do you think?
